About The Event
With increasing climate threats globally, disaster resilience is crucial for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to safeguard their communities and resources. Global Development College and Excelsia College in partnership with the Fijian Government, UNCDF, UNDRR, Global Development College, Pacific Insurance and Climate Adaption Programme (PICAP), and the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), is leading a groundbreaking initiative in developing a Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Fiji.
This exercise recognises the urgent demand for climate adaptation and disaster preparedness at varying levels of the community including the macro, meso and micro levels in Fiji. The scorecard will assist Fiji to evaluate their level of disaster resilience and readiness so they can be better prepared for any climate-related threats. In addition, the scorecard will significantly assist Fiji in meeting the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI) objectives that has been set out in the 2024 SIDS Conference.
Moreover, the workshop is a call to action…
